Bio

Gelindo L. Ferrin was born in Chicago, Illinois. He took a wheel-throwing class while attending college in Madison, Wisconsin in 1992. He instantly fell in love with the possibilities of the clay media.

In 1995, he attended Northern Arizona University enrolling in the ceramics department. He graduated in 1998 with a BFA in Ceramics.

Although he fires pottery in a variety of methods, he especially enjoys making functional ware fired with wood. Most of his works are one-of-a-kind pieces, and due to the nature of wood-firing, he feels that firing with wood leaves the outcome of the pieces to the forces of nature, therefore each piece is unique and special.

He likes to price his work so people will use each one and will find pleasure in doing so because each piece is individual.

In 2002, Gelindo competed in the World Throwing Championship in Faenza, Italy. He upset all predictions by winning the Aesthetic competition, entered by 44 potters from all over the world.

Gelindo has been living and producing pottery in Kingston, Washington.
